Thinking AND feeling. My thoughts.
Some people are uncomfortable feeling. They try to stay with thinking, and the feelings run in the background.
Some people try to stay with the feelings, and the thinking stays in the background.
The rigid, black-and-white thinkers are more comfortable with anger than fear, judging than understanding, arrogance than humility.
The process is this: A stimulus, perception, information followed by a person
thinking, intellectually evaluating it, then
feeling, generally am I safe or not, after which
intention. Some people believe every feeling has an intention. Then
action.
Since this is a feedback loop, that leads through the process again.
If I'm hiking, I might see a path, trees, rocks, hillside, creek, and then a big brown thing. I might think "that's a bear". I would head to the data bank, and think, "bears are hard on people". Just the facts. Followed by fear. My intention would be to save my big pink body, and I'd run.
Looking back over my shoulder, I might see big brown furry thing has a green pack over his fore-quarters. I would think, "That's my dog", and feel relief.
Etc.
