My feelings on this are complicated...

I think abortion is a terrible thing, but I think forcing a woman to put her emotions and body through a pregnancy when she doesnt want it is a more terrible thing. In some cases the woman was forced- I feel there is no moral question here, she has the right to terminate if she chooses, and then sometimes accidents happen between responsible people (condoms break often, and the pill isnt %100 effective), and then there are the people that seem to view abortion as birth control, I think that they are in the vast minority- but they do exist.... personally, I am very offended by this- but still, I cannot condone forcing them to have kids - after all they have proven they are incompetent to take precautions, they surely are not competent to have kids. Yes, adoption is an option, and I really do respect girls that make that choice, but it does set them back 9 months- especially in the bible belt.

I was born in 1971 and I had classmates that were forbidden to go to JR. high school while they were pregnant.... just the social stigma alone encourages girls to abort- and guess what, the people labeling these girls and putting indirect pressure on them to abort are the same ones picketing abortion clinics and calling them sinners if they make that choice....

From what I have seen, men need to step up and take responsibility in this area, I once had a gf that wanted to go on the pill, before she could get it she had to be councelled on its use and risks- the councelors strongly encouraged girls to have their partners come to the class- I showed up without hesitation- I was the only man that showed up, for some reason that I dont understand, many men are uncomfortable with this topic- they seem to think that a girl only gets pregnant if she WANTS to.... this is asinine.

Birth controll needs to be BOTH the man and the woman's responsibility- I think it is evil that its the woman that gets the blame 9 times ot of 10... But until I see men taking the same responsibility that we expect of women, well there should be NO laws against abortion. Or at the very least, men should shut the hell up on the topic!

:) And now I shut up....
