I'm a "to each his own" kinda guy.
No need for settling disputes violently, when you have an entire solar system to expand out into. Violence comes about as an option when movement is restricted and territory becomes crowded. Most wars are fought for "living space" and controlling resources. Those two factors are eliminated in the vastness of space.
It's said that good fences make for good neighbors, and IMO a billion miles of hard vacuum makes an outstanding fence. Now how about you trade me some platinum group metals for some hydrocarbons?
