re: I tend to believe you

And there is no way alcaray or others here can prove that you or I are wrong, therefore their argument that we should give them proof seems like a game of some kind that they are playing.
As alcaray said:

It is an old and recurring pastime, around here.

You are right when you say:
What I am dealing with is -- that a person has to think differently from the way that they have been usually conditioned to think, to realise what I am saying is true.

It seems to me that their condition or conditioning is such that they can not think differently,
They will change the subject to confuse the issue, or they will simply condemn your way of thinking as nonsense without understanding what you are saying.

As an example, I gave them a mathematical formula [ e = (u/k)c, ] lets call that formula equivalent to the formula: a^2 + b^2 = c^2, they did not understand its meaning and wanted proof that the formula is correct.
I gave them a web site to go to where they could study the formula from the viewpoint of deductive reasoning, we can compare that to the squares and the triangle that may be drawn to prove the Pythagorean theorem.

They refused to read or they did not understand the what they read.
They wanted proof, that what was written was correct.

I gave them two predictions that can be explained by using the formula.

They wanted proof. that the predictions could be explained by using the formula, although they did not understand the formula.

Since they did not understand any of my explanations, they called me all kinds of nasty names, I really do not know what that was supposed to accomplish, but what it did seem to do is the fact that no logical discourse about the meaning of the formula has occurred.

I am sure that even if I gave them 367 proofs of the theory they will not believe or understand what I am writing.

I’m afraid that the same will happen to any of your explanations on these boards.

Johannes
