Give me a break. I'm about as anti-government as Thomas Jefferson. I just understand government and therefore realize that it's basis for power and the enforcement of law is force and violence.
Your answer is simply a diversion. I'm for intelligent government. Intelligent government limits the amount of laws ot enacts, because each new law becomes both a burden and a threat to the masses the government is supposed to protect and serve. So one should choose carefully before legislating every single part of human existence.
That's why socialism and communism fits hand in glove with totalitarianism, secret police forces, spying neighbors and the nightmare societies that emerge under these over-regulated nations. Because a people governed by endless state laws are constantly living under the threat of violence. A more free people don't have such concerns.
Sure you would be on the light-bulb enforcement committe with Art, preserving the masses from those "anarchists" that want to use incandescent bulbs in their fixtures. And then you can smile as the $500 fines are levied, the search and seizure laws are enacted, etc. You can report the local hardware stores that still have NOS incandescents for sale behind the "efficient, state authorized fluorescent bulbs".
I know you just can't see it. And that's the trait you share with all the others who seek ever more legislation to "improve" things.
