It's always that "some" that distinguishes your posts Tom as if the worst you can imagine represent the majority of people that concern themselves with the environment.
Funny, I know quite a few folks that consider themselves to be environmentalists and not a single one of them would feel right about imprisoning someone for driving a giant SUV. Instead they might not be real sympathetic if someone keyed the side of a beast when it's parked taking up three prime parking spaces in a busy lot. Interesting you never seem to mention the character of people that seem to need to drive these things.
They'd also enjoy get a guilty pleasure out of driving past the home of a guy with an Hummer in his driveway and a foreclosure sign on his lawn. There would definitely be a sense of justice in that one if the financial problems were partly a result of his greed driving a gas-guzzling giant during times of high gas prices.
You see Tom, one aspect of free thinking in this country seems to be a respect for the Constitution which prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. Just as most liberals wouldn't want someone imprisoned for being greedy or stupid, they don't appreciate people getting locked up for smoking a joint as a good deal of conservatives seem to applaud.
Your inconsistencies are laughable.
