re: "I do have a great deal of humility..."

Not noticeable? On here you may be right but I do tend to understand that in "real life" one can't go around tooting their horn too much. If I did that often I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have the wide range of very quality friends I've made.

What's ironic though is that you can't talk about your own humility without removing your humility to do it.

Just understand that the things I say on here are not necessarily humble because for all I know everyone I'm talking to is just an illusion anyway. I think I have a pretty good idea who's genuine but the internet with its anonymity is often just a fantasy realm and there's no assurances.

Humility and honesty don't always fit together if one finds themselves very talented in lots of areas but the internet can be somewhat freeing in that regard because any day you could stop interacting with it and despite losing a whole lot of quality pen pals, your life still goes on with the "real people". If that sounds elitist or rings with intellectual snobbery just take it for the environment it comes out in and know that were we all neighbors you'd be seeing a completely different me.

I suspect there's a few others on here that share the same curse but choose to bite their lips instead. I suspect it's what drove ER away. I could tell by his recollection of experiences that we share the same gift of being masters of all trades. However, for whatever reason he needed the community more than I do. I have plenty of that community in my real life and instead need the therapy of being able to absolutely talk freely here no matter what the repercussions. I refuse to lie and refuse to distort or omit parts of a discussion to simply support my point and give me debating advantage over someone I'm talking to. That includes bringing up the fact that I intellectually kick ass over most people I meet. Humility in that regard might win me votes in an election but when you're arguing using a brutally honest style it's almost impossible for an opponent to find holes in.
