What's our "fair share"?
Energy production is a product of technology and economic forces. What you're saying is that the United States was unfair for having any electric lights back 120 years ago when Edison developed his bulbs. We had them but the rest of the world didn't, so we were in the wrong for using them.
Maybe the problem isn't that we're over developed, but that others are ass backwards and underdeveloped. That not our fault, it's their's.
