Frequently, in cases where the"liberal" side is portrayed as evil, both sides are.
One case that comes immediately to mind is the recent film "Children of Men".
The near-future British government is portrayed as brutally discriminatory to immigrants. There is a "liberal" rebel group that is fighting to restore rights to the immigrant population. It turns out they are just as brutal as the "conservative" government.
