re: Ya got me

Which actually tends to supports my point that depictions of Conservatives (and those who held conservative beliefs prior to the post-WWII formalization of the name as an ideology) is eternal and isn't the invention of the modern "Liberal Media Conspiracy".

I'm sorry, but your grasp of the structure of moral philosophy is not very good. Your concept of "conservative," which seems to cover an amazing amount of territory, is so off-the-wall it's difficult to get a handle on it. The closest I can come seems to be "anybody I don't like." If we were using physics as a metaphor, your position would be that if something is solid when you rap on it, it must be made of metal.

We shouldn't lose sight of alcaray's forest by obsessing over the trees of detail. For every "JR Ewing" there are a dozen Kenneth Lays and Bernie Ebbers, and that's just in the modern era. As I noted, even the Bible considers Conservatism villainous. What do you have to say to that, Tom? Hmmmm?

Sorry, but the details matter.

For every crooked businessman or CEO there are thousands that are not. They don't make the papers. In fact, I suspect the ratio of dishonest to honest businessmen is better than that for politicians and bureaucrats. Businessmen have to actually produce. Politicians just have to convince you that they're doing something.

Incidentally, I'm constantly amazed at your fixation that I get my moral code, which has a rational foundation, from the Bible. The Bible is a notoriously non-rigorous source. If you work at it, you can find justification for almost any human action, from giving to the poor to the massacre of entire populations. If you want to nail me with Biblical morality, you're not even barking in the right forest.

Just as an aside, a good place to start with "Annie" prior to the new editions might be with this book. It's often found in libraries.
