Flame » in reply to Daddy Warbucks??

Ya got me

At least partly: The name "Warbucks" does commemorate the source of his wealth as a war profiteer in WWI. And there's no truth to the widespread belief that he was modelled after Prescott Bush, since the comic strip appeared a decade before Granpappy Bush started selling gasoline additives to the Luftwaffe. Which actually tends to supports my point that depictions of Conservatives (and those who held conservative beliefs prior to the post-WWII formalization of the name as an ideology) is eternal and isn't the invention of the modern "Liberal Media Conspiracy".

I admit, too, that I was never much interested in "Little Orphan Annie".

We shouldn't lose sight of alcaray's forest by obsessing over the trees of detail. For every "JR Ewing" there are a dozen Kenneth Lays and Bernie Ebbers, and that's just in the modern era. As I noted, even the Bible considers Conservatism villainous. What do you have to say to that, Tom? Hmmmm?
