Ship of Religous fanatics.
I don't think that you will get a group of Mother Earth worshippers together to take off away from their "Mother Ship". But It is possible that you could get some other group of religous zealots to take the plunge.
I think the religous aspect would be necessary to hold the mission together. Ie. They would need to see themselves as missionaries to make the suffering withstandable.
In otherwords, we'll only send a bunch of loons on such a mission.
Hey, consider it our gift to the cosmos.
Of course rigid military dicipline might be tried...But that would mean instead of well meaning loons, that we would be sending out war-mongering Nazi-like loons (Ie. the type that might come back to haunt our Earthly decendants)
