"...Cheney & Co. predicted that oil revenues would pay us for the war. If you see a shift in my attitude somewhere, I'd like you to show me where."

Are you saying that "Cheney & Co" claimed that Iraq would pay for the cost of our military operation in similar way that the gulf states, Germany and Japan paid for Gulf war I:

"How much did the US pay for the Gulf War above and beyond the yearly cost for supporting its military? The US Department of Defense estimated the incremental cost at $61 billion. This additional cost included deployment, construction and operations in the Gulf. However, $54 billion was offset by contributions of other members in the Coalition. Two-thirds of the $54 billion was provided by the Gulf States ($36 billion) with the remaining one-third mostly provided by Japan and Germany ($16 billion)."

Or you saying that "Cheney & Co" claimed would pay the entire cost- not just the cost added due to the deployment?

Either way I think I are mistaken.
And I believe that what "Cheney & Co" were referring the the cost of reconstruction of Iraq and didn't have in mind that Iraq should pay the cost of the US military operation. What you are suggesting might even be considered illegal- with what I would think is an increasing certainty if such "decisions" were made during the period we were an occupying power of Iraq.

As it turn out, the reconstruction cost done by US companies- and other countries companies was paid by the US- at least somewhere around 20 billion worth.
Oh, here it is:

"Funding of reconstruction efforts began with the creation of the Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Fund (IRRF) in April 2003. The IRRF is administered and funded by the United States. An initial allocation of $2.5 billion was made for immediate food, medicine and water relief.

The “Madrid Conference on Reconstruction” held in Spain October 23-24, 2003 was organized by the United States to solicit donor pledges from the international community. About $33 billion in grants and loans were pledged. Of this, $18.4 billion was from the U.S. with another $5 billion from Japan, $812 million from the EU, $500 million from Kuwait and offers of loans from World Bank and the IMF amounting from $5.5 to $9.25 billion.
...
As of December 30, 2005 the UNDG and World Bank Funds had expended about $0.51 billion and $0.39 billion, respectively. The United States managed IRRF had expended about $11.4 billion as of March 2006."

Obviously, at the moment some of Iraq rebuilding is being done by Iraq and it's using it's oil revenues for this, as well as the cost of it's army, government personnel, etc.
Iraqi oil exports:
"WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- New data from Iraq's oil export arm finds increased production and high prices raised revenues by 31 percent to $39.8 billion in 2007, compared with 2006."

Iraq oil production, revenue up in 2007
