You want to think about that one a minute?

Before last month, the payroll job number hadn't posted in negative territory since August of 2003. That's four years and four months without a loss. You want to go look up the last time we had a run like that? And you have to go back to March of 2003 before the number is bigger than 63,000, hence the grotesque headline.

That a news writer would choose to phrase it that way pretty much proves my point about the media, doesn't it?

Go look how many articles talk about "fear of recession." People look at the headlines and make different buying, hiring, and other decisions, even if nothing in their field has actually significantly changed.

The interesting part is that the Democratic Iraq fiasco caused them to fire this shot before they could see the whites of their eyes. It's still nine months until the election.
