Let's get real. The invasion and subsequent 5-year war in Iraq has been an unmitigated DISASTER. Even with the reported decrease in violence Iraq is still listed as one of the most dangerous places in the world, and despite all the bombs we've dropped and all the billions we've spent, there's scarce evidence really that for the Iraqis the nightmare of Saddam has been replaced by anything more than the nightmare of daily insecurity, factional violence, religious extremism and a very uncertain future the day the Americans pack up and go home...
