re: So what's happening in Iraq?

"The Left had nothing to do with the tactical changes over there."

That's right, I already said that. What I actually said was

"...the Left did not turn this war around, they just got the Right to stop stepping on their dick long enough for the professionals to take over."

Which you choose not to believe but which is true, even if two or even twenty liberals say it is. Admit it, TB. Bush's war was going nowhere until the election forced him to get rid of Rumsfeld and turn it over to the generals, a move that never would have happened without the electoral loss of 2006.

This is what has infuriated me about the Neocon way of war, not so much that it was mismananged; everyone, after all, can make mistakes. The tragedy, no, the crime of the Right was to refuse to admit they were wrong, to ignore the advice of even substantial sections of their own party, and to refuse to make adjustments, to cover up grotesque blunders, avoid clear signs of error, and make excuses for criminal negligence and pig-headedness of Biblical proportions, and then, after the change in command and strategy, to claim they had it right all along.

As far as all those wacko liberals you still insist have lost the war for you, they had nothing to do with it; this was GWB's war all the way, but the Bush administration has now made those wacko liberal policies legitimate and acceptable, and they will haunt American foreign policy for decades, just like the failure in Vietnam did. The damage done to America is incalculable, not just by liberal standards, but by conservative ones as well.
