Was able to oust a dictator, defeat an army, install a quasi-democracy and secure the oil pipelines and provide us with part of our daily consumption after a brief interruption - and do so on 5000 US casualties, most of which were due to the roadside equivalent of suicide bombers and EU/IRAN foreign interference. And what's more - do all this without becoming butchers of the first order.
The military geniuses of the past are humbly watching in awe of the "neocon" way of war.
The folks stepping on their dicks getting in our way are the liberals who have tried to thwart our efforts in Iraq from the very beginning and who have been/are illiterate stooges for corrupt European interests in the Middle East.
Rumsfeld, after history first tries to destroy him and then forgets him, will be rediscovered in the distant future and the statistics of "his" war will be measured without the personal hatred of the man and his President since no one living will remember either. In such light "his" war and the neocon approach to war will look damn good next to all the other previous wars.
But liberals, and the folks who would have loved to see a draft implemented to use politically against the right as well as tens of thousands more casualties to go with it, will never admit such, even to themselves.
