Of course not. But I suspect that the choices are being framed that way for us.
"Either we study math, chemistry and engineering, or we study gay history. See what THEY are making US do."
Of course, California has always been one toke over the line on this sort of thing.
I studied math and chemistry in high school, but they were electives. Most people didn't.
And even though I graduated in '64, you would never know there was an epic Civil Rights struggle going on in the society from what you heard in Civics class.
Prayer in home room was mandatory, though. I remember the good old days, they sucked.
