Inflation is the Umpire in the capitalist system. It keeps everyone honest and "equal".
If you aren't good enough as a business, a union, or an individual to get a pay rise, you get nothing or close to nothing, and inflation moves the goal posts ahead of you, so you end up going backwards.
Inflation is the monkey on our backs, the lash, the carrot. If you don't get a pay RISE, and a good one, you effectively got a pay cut.
Inflation is like the tide coming in. If you can't swim, and can't float, you gunna sink. You might last a little while climbing on the backs of other people, but in the end, they go under, and you go under with them. You'd wish you had corporate swimming classes, instead of corporate climbing classes.
Capitalists say "a rising tide floats all boats" - but in fact, a rising tide exposes everyone to the risk of staying afloat, or going under. Some companies take a short-cut and capsize when they should have been buoyant but were poorly balanced. Floating is NOT easy. Try running your own business...
Deflation? Don't do anything, don't risk anything. Your money is worth more tomorrow than today, but ONLY if you don't try to use it, don't risk it... Deflation is death, poison, atrophy. Inflation is growth, competition, success, energy. You gotta grow faster than the strangling vine...
How do you think the Amazon rain forest got to be so big and so green?
