Of course I defer to ER, but my understanding of the linquistics involved is that while bimbo might be correct in reference to McCain, as you stated, Ms. Palin would properly be referred to as a bimba.
That being said, it is nice of you to remember the Maserati. If was a fun car, but it died some time ago and I ended up trading it off for a 25 year old bottle of Bushmills. It gave me substantially better mileage. I just bought a new Mercedes, returned from a trip to Brazil and found the market had just erased over two years of savings and may not be done yet.
So my present sentiment is screw Ayn Rand, Nataniel Branden, Milton Friedman and the entire Chicago Scool of Economics, Hyek et al. The trick for the new administration will be called "how to avoid being swallowed and dominated by the multi nationals as they devour everything in sight. Look what has happened to the free market revolutions in Russia and Bolivia just to name two.
And I will try not to look at what was my lovely little nest egg.
