That's the whole point, TB.

Capitalism, left to itself, does not lead to Libertarian utopia. It enlists government to do the enforcing and then blames it when things go wrong. It rejects the regulation but seeks the subsidy, it complains of controls but goes for the contracts, it whines about government intereference while it gets in bed with legislatures and courts to lobby for an environment conducive to goals and as free from real competition as possible. And it elects its champions to the Presidency.

These dementers don't give a damn aboutnoble entrepreneurs and family businesses and corner lemonade stands run by Norman Rockwell urchins or your puerile Ayn Rand sci-fi fantasies. They suck the life blood out of everything they come into contact with. This is a fully developed corporate welfare state in its final stages; the government and the trusts are not enemies, they are co-conspirators. These people are gangsters and the government regulators you so love to blame all our problems on are just tinhorn crooked cops on their payroll.

OF COURSE, "the best of intentions" are corrupted and perverted when government intervenes and tries to make the market work better. That is the purpose of government, it is the instrument the financial world uses to insulate itself from the free market so it can wage unrestricted war on us. That's what finance capitalists do, that's their job. They don't sell carpet or home furnishings or canned goods, they sell capital, for profit. And profit is all that matters to them.

And don't tell me its getting worse because of bogeyman socialism, either. This manipulation of government by commerce goes way back, to the days of kings and empires, way before there was any socialism. And in those days, it wasn't just a few lobbyists carving out some favorable businees conditions for themselves, back then we had war, colonialism, imperialism, massive genocides and invasions and enslavements to keep the beast fed and bloated, because it is never satisfied, it is always hungry.

You see, it's not a question of economics, or ideology, or even politics. It's a malignant pathology that is carried deep inside these men, in their blood, like syphillis.
