Nothing SpaceX is currently developing is intended to send humans to Mars. He is trying to develop a cheaper version of rockets for Earth orbital use. If he is successful he hopes he or someone else will use that technology as a stepping stone to Mars. Zubrin based his plan on sticking as closely to available technology as possible to minimize development cost. Musk is trying to improve rocket technology in a cost sustainable manner. These are complimentary approaches not antagonistic. Zubrin wold love to sea cheaper rockets and Musk would love to see humans visit and colonize Mars. It's no wonder you can't provide any numbers to debate Zubrin's accuracy and engineering expertise as you aren't even paying close attention to articles put in front of your face (and I'm not referring solely to this article).
