Nor do they show that Musk somehow disagrees with Zubrin's architecture. I don't know what architecture for exploring and colonizing Mars Musk prefers - Mars Direct, NASA reference missions, or something else. He does not as far as I know have his own Mars plan yet and has not claimed as far as I know that anything he is currently developing will take people to Mars. What I do know is that while his long term goal for humanity is colonizing space starting with Mars, his near term personal goal is to make money while making access to space cheaper. The original link supports both claims. Cheap access is his main goal as he already has plenty of money and there are easier ways to make more of it. He does however realize making space profitable is the way to assure space technology will continue to advance. LEO and Lunar tourism are near term applications which he is pursuing. Maybe for once we aren't really that far apart on the facts, but differ as usual on interpretation.

Mark
