I nuked the concept of "authoritarian conservatism" a long while back, largely by pointing out that some of the greatest authoritarian regimes of the past couple of centuries were all about mankind throwing off the old ways and marching into a bright, shiny new future. They didn't call them "revolutionaries" for nothing.
