For the first time ever, you sort of piss me off. I am not looking for the comfort of a damn thing and while I am cynical about space and politics, they are still as much my game as anyone, regardless of age. If I recall correctly, you are not a spring chicken yourself, and I mean this life, not all the previous incarnations.

I want what I have paid for and I will accept what comes in the future bad or good. This doesn't mean I am doddering into socialism. I refuse to be a member of AARP with all the bells and whistles due to their sniveling agenda and in spite of the fact they are the sponsors of my MediCare plan. :) I am, however, keenly aware that I am no longer a potential instrument of change. Willingness to roll with the flow is not the same as becoming socialist. I retain the right to laugh to myself, and occasionally throw out the odd barb.

I have long been a fan and great admirer of Phil for making his separate peace and dropping out of the political arena here without disappearing completely. I have found reasons to like most of the people here and engaging in pointless arguments does not make sense. Tom does about as well as anyone could do with his even disposition, but his relentlessness and predictabilty wears on some. I almost asked him recently if he agreed with the trust busting that occurred in the early 20th century but I realized he would probably tell me he didn't.

The political landscape in my lifetime has been a rolling plain and is nothing like most of us reflect outward. Changes have been more like a glazier than a tidal wave. I expect that to continue.

With a few exceptions, this is a moderate community and the differences we have are more about self perception than reality.

I wear my black military attire because it looks good, not because it is what I believe in my heart of hearts. (G)
