Space/Science » in reply to NASA Moon Plan........... TOO AMBITIOUS

Nasa is a pathetic joke.

Does anyone here seriously think it cost $100+ billion dollars to but 4 men on the moon? That kind of money could build almost 20 100,000 ton nuclear powered aircraft carriers. They've already spent well over $10 billion since the "vision" was announced, with nothing to show for it. Nasa should be able to put people back on the Moon for well under what they've already spent.

Imagine all of the data that's been acquired and all of the advances in materials, physics, chemistry, computers, and engineering that have come about since Apollo. One drafter with Autocad or Solidworks can do the work of 100 drafters equipped with boards and slide rules. All of the engineering data which was unknown and first being learned during Apollo is common knowledge taught to 2nd year engineering students today. Manufacturing processes with robots and CNC machines far eclipse those used to build the Saturn V and Apollo capsules 40 years ago. It's a sick, sad, and perverse joke how badly Nasa has been degraded.

This is why I'm against the government taking control of the healthcare industry. If Nasa can't put a few dozen tons of payload on the Moon for under $100 Billion dollars and in less than 20 years, how in the hell do you think the same type of incompetence is going to lower costs for medical care? I never thought I'd say this, but maybe Nasa should be dismantled and buried, because they're pretty much worthless.
