Even if we stop all CO2 emission today, the effects from what we have already done will lead to rapidly accelerating disaster. Sea ice will continue to melt, leading to an increase in solar radiation absorbed by the earth. The thawing of Tundra over the coming decades will release VAST quantities of greenhouse gasses that will accelerate the problem no matter what humanity does to reduce its emissions.
The resulting climate change will impact the world's forests and likely reduce the amount of carbon absorbed by them...
In short, the tipping point is the point at which we enter a period of positive reinforcement- the changes trigger a self reinforcing period of warming- we have passed that point in my opinion, and in the opinion of many of those that are actual experts in the field.
"Recovery" will actually be stabilizing into a 'new normal', and that will take centuries.

- So tell me, what do you guys think?
- We are far past the tipping point...
- What about carbon capture?
- 400+ ppm?
- I am all for it- but the scale of the problem makes it questionable
- I can't say I believe entirely in your assessment
- What about carbon capture?
- Something else to worry about.
- I think we'll need to wait and see. n/t
