Venus is an example of a runaway greenhouse effect. If earth reached a runaway greenhouse gas tipping point it's basically curtains. 900 degree surface temperatures mean not even microbial life survives, at least not on the surface. (There are scientists who believe life could exist in the top layer of clouds on Venus. Perhaps some micriobial biomass could survive deep underground.)
