The term "Conservative Movement" is a self-identification. "Movement conservatives" wear it proudly. On buttons. On signs. On badges. On bumper stickers...well, you get the idea. Why am I even having to remind you of that?
There's no self-identified "Liberal Movement". To quote gothgirl, "if there was, i'd join it." Amen, sister girl! The hyperstimulated rightwing pattern-matching faculty "sees" it, though, much as anomalists see Mr. Coffee units sitting on a rock on Mars. You know it must be there, so it's there.
Sure, there are individual special interest groups that call themselves "movements". Liberalism's a big tent, such a big tent, in fact, that it's come to define mainstream. There's the "Peace Movement", still going strong after all these years. There's the "Environmental Movement", ditto. Who else? Oh yeah, let's not overlook the "Vegetarian Movement". Don't turn your back on those guys, Tom. First they come for your beef, then they come for your ham, then your chicken...before you know it, you're choking down tofu! Aiiiiieeeee!!!!
But nope, no "Liberal Movement" pulling the strings, visibly or invisibly. Sorry.
