I just watched Star Trek and I haven't had so much fun with a movie since they invented popcorn (in which I DID indulge). I may just keep the DVD another week and watch it again! I have to own this one for sure. I have all the original 6 Star Treks although I still don't know why I bothered buying The Final Frontier except just to have the whole series.

This was so much fun! I was prepared not to like the guy who played Spock because I detest his character on Heroes (which I quit watching after year 1.5) but he was excellent. All the new guys are great. I had to back up and listen carefully to hear some of the undertone comments like Bones' "green-blooded hobgoblin."

I let out a guffaw when Kirk was fighting with the Romulan and being strangled by him. The Romulan makes a denigrating comment about his not even being able to talk and loosens his grip just a bit to hear Kirk say, "Yes, but I have your gun."

What a wonderful way to do this, recreating the Star Trek universe by making an alternative reality. Now it's a new reality they have to explore.

All is well with the Universe. Capt. Kirk and crew are back. And better than ever.
