Funny you should say that.
The irony is that this bill will cost me money. My wife and I have our pre-existing conditions locked into my insurance plan at work. And even if I should quit or get the sack she has Medicare and I have VA, so we've got backup. (Or as my conservative friends like to say, "freedom of choice".) My taxes will go up and I will receive no additional benefit (and you know my insurance premiums are going up and my benefits eroding even as we speak). In other words, I will lose nothing, and I stand to gain, relative to others, if this bill fails. But I still think it's the best thing for the country as a whole, so I support it.
