Wow...

I don't think you missed a single talking point. I've heard it all before. I'd love to see your sources for that bit about Ho Chi Minh during WWII.

The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan about four years after the fall of Vietnam, and collapsed about ten years after that. It was in no position to take advantage of a victory in SE Asia or anywhere else. Had the free world simply smiled and nodded at the Vietnam communist insurgency in the late 1950s, I don't think the results would have been the same. You apparently overlooked my analogy.

Almost all communist takeovers were "civil wars."

The Left has spent years rationalizing why the Cold War, and its hot outbreaks, was unnecessary, and all we had to do for "world peace" was simply let all these communist movements have their way in all these nations. "U.S. Out Of (fill in the blank)!"

China has been mostly isolationist. Hell, it's China, after all. I don't know how long that's going to last. The Soviet Union was not isolationist. I have always found it fascinating that when the U.S. did the same things as the Soviets in multiple client nations, it was labeled foul imperialism.
