"I never said Ho was a sweet old man."

Nice dodge. And by focusing on that, you can ignore all the other points. What makes you fun to argue with is that when you're on the ropes, you hop on top of them and start twirling plates while standing on one foot.

In S.E. Asia we got lucky. The Soviets were already collapsing when Vietnam was over, and Afghanistan (which I'm sure the U.S. forced the Soviets into in some arcane manner) did the rest.

Vietnam did not suddenly become quiet and peaceful after the war either, invading Cambodia and Laos, and devouring or driving out a huge segment of their own population. Not sure how many dominoes have to go down for it to count as "dominoes."

It's very quiet and peaceful in Vietnam now. Everybody who might make any important noise is gone or dead.

It's interesting to go down a historical timeline of the 20th century, look at things that happened beyond our borders that the U.S. tried to do something about, and say "what if here, the U.S. had done nothing?" I'll give you WWII as a free square. If Japan had not bombed Pearl Harbor and steered clear of us in the Pacific, then what? Korea. Vietnam. Invasion of Kuwait. Endless Soviet-supported Marxist "revolutionary" movements in Central America, the Middle East, South America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. No invasions, no attacks by proxy, no provoking any coups. Just stand there like Uatu in his toga, and watch.

A lot of libertarians are fiercely isolationist. I don't think we can do that in modern times.
