He comes in colors everywhere...like a rainnnnnnbooooow.

So you can't drill wherever you please, so you don't feel the need to take the required safety precautions where you CAN drill, even though you are operating a mile down. That's sort of like saying the speed limit is too low on a nice day in town, so you're justified in driving as fast as you like out in the country at night, in the rain. Well I guess you showed us!

Maybe if this prospect had been developed successfully, it might have convinced the country that deep water drilling was safe elsewhere and some of those zones might have been opened up as public opinion moderated.
Hell, even Obama and I were ready to come around to your point of view. Now we both know better. This is starting to look more like TMI every day. I'm even having second thoughts about nukes. The technology may work, but Daddy Warbucks just can't be trusted to get it right.

This is not politics, TB, don't blame this on Mao and Stalin, who I'm sure drilled for oil wherever they damn well pleased. BP engaged in high risk behavior without using a condom, because they were cheap and they were lazy. Their luck just ran out and they drilled a little bit too hard and too deep. I can't wait til they try to use your pretty little map in court. "But Your Honor, the only reason we wrecked the Gulf of Mexico is because they wouldn't let us drill anywhere else."

I'm not backpedaling at all. Today, I'm Freewheelin' Franklin.
