As in everything, you have to know where to look, how to look, how to judge, who to ask, etc. I'm fortunate in that I've always had a dietitian as a close friend and discussed a lot of ideas with M.D.'s. We have agreed to disagree on a lot of things but I get valuable input and additions to my knowledge base and they get their minds just a wee bit more opened.
The nature/sports/etc. bars are made to sell; they don't care what they're putting into your body. So you need to read labels and ingredients and know what they are. Hell, everyone damn near needs to be a chemist just to read the damn things.
If you want healthy, eat nothing that is not fresh and natural. No produced or packaged foods. If I could, I would. And I may be heading that way. Packaged foods are where we get into trouble.
