I've got two microplanes and I didn't pay anywhere near $25 for either one of them. They very nicely shave limes, lemons (zesting) and Parmigiano Reggiano.
Shaving salt, you'd easily shred your fingers. No, thank you. I wouldn't pay that for a fancy salt when I can get cheaper gray salts just as good.
