As I've pointed out every time you accuse me of ignorance of the tea party movement, I'm a card-carrying member of Tea Party Nation and get my fix straight from the source. One of my duties is receiving their email newsletter, and the following is a sample from just the month of June of the current hot-button issues:
EMP (Electromagnetic pulse), and why Obama's a traitor for not making it a crusade akin to the one against Islamic terrorism.
Soccer: It's unAmerican: "I hate soccer. I not only do not desire to watch it, I wish that all soccer fields in my town would be re-purposed as dog-walking facilities or, better yet, returned to their former baseball diamond beauty."...."so-called World Cup Fever is making me sick, as in an unwanted pestilence pervading my existence."..."it is a microcosm for much that is wrong with America."
Numbah 1 on the Tea Party best-seller lists: "The Manchurian President", and yep, it's everything the name promises.
Defining True Conservatism (and defending against charges of RINOism).
Defending the ideological purity of Teapartyism.
Uppity blacks (Obama is encouraging a Black Panther revival, according to one lengthy newsletter).
Political organizing: Power to the old people! We want a rematch! We'll win the 1960s this time for sure!
Plus the staples: The Czars are coming! How climate change is still a hoax no matter what (TPN hq in Tennessee was almost swept away in the recent flooding). Survivalism (it's found a new home). Misquoting the Founders for fun and mischief. And just generally yelling at clouds.
That's teapartyism in a nutshell.
