Your response was yet another classic example of distortion of facts. No one is saying employers will get anything free in single payer. NO ONE WILL. TAXES WILL GO UP TO COVER THE COSTS. GOT IT YET!??????????????
Now I'm going to make this as simple as possible for you to understand...
All those companies providing coverage to their employees buy it from private insurance companies. So your example of 9% buying insurance yada yada is, surprise surpise, another distortion of facts.
The private insurance industry currently adds hundreds of billions to the costs of health care in this country while providing absolutely NOTHING of value to it. In fact their policies are in direct conflict with the whole point of health care: helping sick people get well!
Medicare administrative costs are currently about 5% to run the entire program. By contrast the private insurance industry spends about 13% in non-care. And at the same time they are denying the kinds of care doctors often prescribe.
Btw, Social Security currently costs less than 1% to administer. By contrast, the privatization plans Bush proposed that would have turned over the SS trust fund to Wall St. Fund managers would have raised administrative costs to around 5%.
What was that about real world precedents?
