Actually Philip Morris IS changing its name. It is a blatant attempt to distance itself from the law suits attendent to the tobacco biz.
The stockholders voted on April 25, 2002 to change the company name to ALTRIA.
Never having seen an Altria I wouldn't recognize it as a cig co. Of course, I wouldn't recognize it as the #2 beer co. in the US (Miller) or Grape-Nuts (Post--part of the 84% ownership of Kraft.)
