Re: Illegal vs. "Show Cause"

<...we at our house call the movement "pro-birth", because generally anti-abortion organizations don't give a damn what happens to the infant after it's born.

Yeah, yeah. No conservative has ever helped another human being without some liberal threatening to beat him to death with the fifty-five pound bleeding heart hanging off the liberal's sleeve. I know, I know.

Anti-death-penalty activists don't seem to care much what a murderer does after he's been released from prison on a technicality, either. Just an observation.

...I see no problem with having to file a show cause brief with the courts, to make sure such abortions aren't performed frivolously.

Your restrictions on third-trimester abortion are quite reasonable, and I would bet most people you would consider "pro-life" would agree with them. Surveys show that a large number of pro-lifers are willing to make an exception when the life of the mother is at risk, or under other extreme medical conditions.

Conversely, how many pro-abortion groups would be willing to bend as far as even requiring a court filing to perform such an abortion?* Not too many I would bet. Ask around sometime and let me know.

...Have you never had a gynecological procedure? Oh, wait... never mind.

How many colonoscopies have YOU had? When you get a gynecological exam with an instrument three feet long, you let me know.

Women have been giving birth for a million years, and believe me, all the pain and discomfort is appreciated, and our species depends on it. On the other hand, for nearly the same amount of time, men have been spilling their intestines and dying on battlefields protecting their women and families, and I understand that isn't exactly a low number on the pain meter either.

Can we stop the gender one-upmanship now?

*One would assume such laws would include waivers for medical emergencies where such permission could not be reasonably obtained beforehand.
