Sorry if I got "policital," but how the hell can you discuss a "leftist novel" without defining what a leftist is?
I understand that liberals don't like my descriptions of liberal behavior. Hey, I write what I see. While there are a lot of liberals who break the mold, like those who believe in the right to bear arms, or support the war on Iraq, or think taxes are high enough, thanks;* most of them have positions so predictably leftist that you can almost tell word for word what they are going to say on any given occasion. A lot of the Hollywood types fall easily into this category. So do a lot of Democratic politicians.
The goals of the current leadership of the Democratic Party are indistinguishable from those that a Marxist would have. Go down the list sometime. With very few exceptions, everything they support, especially in economics, involves increased central government power and decreased power to the individual. The fact that you don't like hearing it doesn't make it untrue.
And okay, if you don't like my descriptions, who are YOUR leftists? And what are their core beliefs and policies? Please try to avoid the usual fog along the lines of "they believe in a good life for everyone with freedom and equality." Cotton fluff, without meaning. Feel free to post links to other people's ideas on this, as well.
*Several on this board in fact.
