When you say, "no matter who's speaking the lesson," I couldn't disagree with you more. Not all "statemen" are cut from the same cloth. Goering, after the war, had axes to grind, bitterness to express and a life to try to save--namely his own. His suggestion that all peoples are alike, that we're all suceptible to a song like that sung by the Nazis, he's ignoring--or rather, ignorant of--history, politics, religion and culture.
I'd also offer that not everyone who yells "predator!" is doing a disservice, especially if there happens to be a real menace lurking.
