I agree.

Syria is not Iraq.

[1] Syria is right next door to
Israel; Iraq isn't.
[2]Syria not only has Scuds with chemical warheads, but artillery-shells fillled with nerve-agents that can reach
Tiberius [I've been there!] on the Sea of Galilee, and boosted Katyusha-rockets, also carrying nerve-agents, that can
reach Haifa [I've been there also in the past ten years]....Against such artillery
shells and rockets, Patriot missiles may be useless.
[3] Oh, yes! Syria still has thousands of Jews living in the country [No doubt Syria would use them as human shields];
Iraq doesn't.
[4] Syrian artillery-rockets are also within
range of that USAF base in Turkey, what's its name?
[5]Syria even has a couple of naval vessels that Saddam Insane would have
coveted...Syria, I think, has a couple
of diesel-electric submarines.
Imagine one such vessel, carrying a suicide-crew [we're talking the Middle-East here!], waiting in the sea-floor mud of the Mediterranean for a US aircraft-carrier to pass over, while the submarine suicide-crew prepare to detonate maybe
5, 10 tons of HE onboard their doomed vessel to break the back of the US aircraft-carrier overhead?

The scenario in number (5) maybe
unlikely, but the scenario of Syrian-Jews
forced to become human-shields [This will
alarm the strong pro-Israel lobby in the US Congress.] is very likely...
So is the likelihood of Syria pre-emptively triggering an all-out Middle-Eastern war against Israel and America [with WMD, too]...In such a scenario,
Saudi Arabia may turn against the United
States...as well as against Israel.
