With total freedom of movement throughout Iraq we are in a position like never before to conduct clandestine incursions into Syria, Iran, Jordan or wherever the need arises.
No need for tanks for this type of stuff. This is pure special operations territory now - and the type of action that is deniable by using foreign fighters, non-US nationals or simply folks who don't mind not carrying dog tags.
We have forces on the ground all over the middle east and Africa too. Anywhere the terror camps are - our antiterror task teams have already been busy. Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt - wherever the terror ferments we bleach it.
Public announcements are simply PR cover for any fouled up covert operations. By threatening larger military action while conducting small covert ops, it already conditions the global community that intervention is justified and may be necessary. If a team blows it - they already have conditioned the public for large scale intervention and it will receive a less harsh global backlash.
These folks in DC really do know what their doing for a change.
We have never been in a better position to achieve middle east peace. I wasn't joking when I said Bush & co. deserve the Nobel Peace Prize - for this daring course of action and unashamed use of our military strategically will give the region a whole new democratic opportunity and with it prosperity and stability.
It's about time.
