If it was a choice between saving an original copy of the Constitution and hundreds or thousands of lives, what choice would YOU make?
If someone told me I could save the life of one of my children by setting fire to the Mona Lisa, I would bring the gasoline myself. If it took chopping down the very last California Redwood, I would knock people down going for the axe.
If someone told me it would save the life of one of my kids, I would take the last, big, fluffy panda on the face of the Earth and rip out its beating heart with my bare hands.
Priorities.
The original point of this thread was that, if forced into a choice, the military should place preserving the economic infrastructure of Iraq over some of its cultural artifacts. Poverty kills, and the wealth of the oil fields may make the difference between life and death for many Iraqis.
And frankly, the only reason this is even an issue in the media is because it's the last straw that the anti-war and/or anti-Bush people are clinging to.
During the Bosnia bombings, NATO destroyed churches, synagogues, museums, ancient Byzantine tombs, and historical sites. Must have missed that on CNN.
