"Chris writes: In a sense this is part of the problem. With in the Space Fan community there is no consciences. There are at the base at least 4 groups.
Those who would have low cost launchers be the next thing so they can enjoy space tourism or some other business in space. "
This completely backwards and is example of how useless "Space Fans" are. About the only "valuable" thing space fans are doing is learning- and it's a slow process- one reason is there is confusion generated by these same "Fans"- and sometimes this generated confusion seems like it is being done on purpose.
The sub-orbitor spacecraft is lower cost than a orbitor. It's easier. There is probably a sizable market for sub-orbital flights. People who want to build sub-orbitors, [mainly] want to be more rich and famous, and/or want to make getting into space easier (CATS). They don't want govt getting into the business and competing with them (it's not fair competition).
