Star Trek? Where did you see folks dressed in Analog Spacesuits at the Toronto Convention, Barry? You supposition is false, but yeah I'm sure that won't stop you babbling on in caps...

If you can't figure out what the difference is between folks changing designings and modifying equipment while doing science like geology or biology and then publishing articles in science journals are and people trying hard to make exact copies of SF hardware then I can't help you.
