I certainly don't "hate" Grondine, but...

I do pity him. I sincerely hope he does seek psychotherapy, assuming, of course, that he already is not under professional care of some sort. His rants, as long as they're confined to online forums, are harmless enough, though alternately amusing and irritating. My verbal sparring with him in Space Science is cathartic to me and, I hope, to him. Maybe this is the type of "wake-up call" he needs to realize that he has a serious problem. Perhaps if enough of us here at The Habitable Zone adopt this approach with him, it may serve as a type of "online group intervention." Then again, perhaps not. However, as I mentioned, he apparently is "physically" acting out his delusions (viz., his impersonation of a member of the media at NASA HQ, his repeated claims to be an "expert" in space-related fields, etc.), and, frankly, this is what worries me. It is not too great a step from these paranoid fantasies of his to him becoming a real danger to society, not to mention himself. It's sad, I know. But what is one to do? I'm certainly open to suggestions. I happen to know a few people at NASA HQ (in Code S), and in this post 9/11 world, they, as well as I, fear crackpots (e.g., Grondine) as much as we do hardcore terrorists.
