My feeling is he's a Moon Child. I was once pretty obsessive about a return to the Moon by NASA. But, I grew out of it.
My feeling is that Grondine is a "nobody" who wants to be "somebody." Sorta like the pipsqueak who hangs out with the jocks but can't run 50 yards without collapsing. He has more than a passing interest in a couple of space-related issues and feels "equal" to the real experts when he engages them in online discussion.
