We all have a variety of feelings and thoughts; even when we disagree with someone there is almost always at least a part of us which understands the other person. But Grondine's postings here fall outside of that realm, and that is truly puzzling. There is no understanding of what he is doing, of what motivates him, if he is serious, etc. The "game" ... well, everyone understands that. But if it is not a game to him, what is it? What he claims it is just does not make sense (viz., "protecting Earth from asteroids"). I think this is what has led to all the comments about him being mentally disturbed or unstable. If other humans can understand why someone does something, even if they disagree with it, they usually don't consider the person crazy.

The Moon is simply to close to Earth and has been done already. They can't justify the costs to repeat Apollo. But Grondine and DiGregorio haven't stopped being obsessive and they are simply looking for ways to derail anything they think might prevent NASA from returning to the Moon. Mars they fear is the next item on the agenda. Even thought they both have at one time or another pointed out ISS and STS stops the movement out of LEO by NASA. And removing ISS and STS from government funding stream in no way guarantees the movement out past LEO. It would be just as easy to quit doing manned spaceflight at all. We shall see what Congress makes of NASA during the next session.

Chris writes: After todays posting by EP I'm not sure he is sane. And I'm not sure I do understand him.
